We try to maintain consistency across the different content types when possible. Below are the most common fields you'll find.
Title
The title is used to identify the content you're working on. There are multiple title fields and they can all be the same.
In Articles, this field is named Headline, but it serves the same purpose.

Short Description
The Short Description will be displayed by search engines, social media, and across our site, in sections where the content is referenced like in a Headlines Grid or the Entity Reference component.
It’s an optional but important field to fill in, to let users know what content to expect. Best practices recommend no more than 160 characters in sentence form.
In Events, this field is renamed Meta Description, but it serves the same purpose.
Topics
The Topics field allows you to select from a pre-determined list of Topics. Start typing one of these topics into the field, then select the item from the dropdown.
Topics are optional. You can add more than one topic; however, we recommend no more than three and should only be added if 1, the content is truly relevant to the topic and 2, the content advances substantive knowledge on the topic.
While the Topic field is available in most content types, it is only utilized on Articles and Events. If you use the event or article content types and select topic(s), once published, it’ll appear on that respective topic page(s) under the Events or Headlines section depending on published date.
Main Content Area (Page Components)
Use the Main Content section to create a vast number of layouts with components. Some content types have components pre-added depending on how often they're used. Feel free to edit or remove as needed.

Moderation Status
The status dropdown, located at the bottom of the screen, indicates the moderation status of a content. For example a content can be in Draft, In Review, or Published.
There are other options available that will be useful when scheduling and removing content.
