Certain cases require a page to have a location path and be hidden from the navigation menu. This may seem contradictory, but the site's IA (directory and path structure) is based on where a page exists within the main navigation.

  1. Make sure you are logged in as an Site Editor or higher.
  2. Make sure the page has been added to the Menu.
  3. Navigate to Manage > Administration > Menu > All Menus.
  4. Search for the menu in question, most likely Main navigation.
  5. Search for the page you want to hide from the Menu and select Edit.
  6. Deactivate the Enabled checkbox.
  7. Click Save.

While this should also be doable from the list of menu links (Step 4) by unchecking the Enabled checkboxes and then saving; as of October 2021, this feature was not working.

The result is that content managed in this way will receive or retain its directory structure/paths but will not be visible within the navigation.

Important

  • Content hidden in this way, and its child page, is not discoverable through the expandable "In this Section" navigation.
  • Child content of disabled items will remain visible on larger screens as part of the grey section of the section nav but undiscoverable through navigation on smaller screens. (The gray portion of the section nav is not displayed on screens smaller than ~1200px wide.)
  • All content must have on-page links to be discovered across device types.
